Foam-Washout Sclerotherapy for varicose veins is a recent modification of foam sclerotherapy was designed in 2008 by Dr. Khalil Fattahi and presented for the first time in March of 2010 at Sclerotherapy Conference in Bologna Italy and subsequently presented at multiple international conferences in US, Europe and Asia. Dr. Fattahi’s Foam-Washout method focuses on getting the best effect from injected foam by sclerosing targeted varicose vein, while removing all or most of the foam from the treated vein few seconds after the injection. Thus, potentially lowering the risk of complications such as; deep vein thrombosis, neurological and visual disturbance, and migraine headaches. Varicose veins always result from abnormal flow of blood in opposite the normal direction.
