First, Some Facts About Phlebology
Varicose and unsightly veins are amongst most common medical and aesthetic problems in medicine. In the United States about 20% of adults suffer from varicose veins. Modern treatment of varicose and unsightly veins has improved tremendously during the past decade. However, these breakthroughs have gone unnoticed by the medical community at large, due to the fact there are only very few competent physicians in this field and most physicians and medical schools have shown little interest in treating this common problem.
How Can An Interested Physician Step In The Field Of Phlebology?
Our 2-3 days workshops cover the following topics:
- Anatomy of Legs Veins
- Pathophysiology of varicose veins
- Examination of a patient with unsightly and varicose vein condition
- Use of handheld doppler and color flow duplex ultrasound
- Sclerotherapy agents and their proper use and possible side effects
- Echo guided sclerotherapy (echosclerotherapy) of incompetent perforating and varicose veins
- Indications and use of EVLT or ELVeS (Endo Laser Vein System), a new break through alternative to surgery, in the treatment of varicosity of great saphenous vein.
Finally I want to say: It was a great honor for me to be a part of your team for 2 weeks! I will remember this moment for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for everything,
Thank you for an excellent full-day demonstration of the endogenous laser obliteration procedure at your clinic. The clinic is spacious, pleasant and well organized for patient flow. Your staff are open, friendly, informative, and ready to help and advise, both in supply and in billing information. All the procedures went smoothly, with demonstrated expertise and experience. Instructions were given in minute details, with plenty of time for questions and explanations.
Every aspect of the procedure, from supplies, setup, patient evaluation, patient positioning, instrument placement, post op care etc, was gone over in depth and in a logical fashion. I find the experience most valuable and helpful in planning for a new clinic.
I was able to observe the newest advances in chemotherapy and its application to a wide spectrum of venous disease-including foam chemotherapy as well as endogenous laser ablation of the Greater Saphenous Vein. Importantly, Dr. Fattahi uses duplex ultrasonography in the evaluation and during treatment of his patients. This seems to be an invaluable technique which undoubtably contributes to his excellent results. I am very excited to bring these techniques to our community.
Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to spend a couple of days with you in your Vein Specialty Clinic. Throughout my 18 years of private practice in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, I have been to numerous seminars and forums for continuing medical education. The time I spent in Los Gatos was one of the most worthwhile and informative, giving me the experience to expand the scope of our services. Having the opportunity to see your results first hand, especially after viewing the before photos, was most impressive. It was extremely helpful to observe the complete spectrum of problems and to see patients from their initial evaluation and diagnostic studies through an entire course of therapeutic modalities for venous disease, including chemotherapy and endogenous laser. Having seen you at work gives me the comfort and confidence to further pursue treatment of even complex venous disorders. Thanks for a wonderful experience.
It was a pleasure visiting your office and getting training from you. Iwant to thank you for your personal attention and excellent training skills. I have been practicing phlebology for several years. I strive to improve my skills by continued medical education. I found my time in with you to be very beneficial and would recommend you to anyone experienced orjust getting into the field of phlebology. They will benefit from your skills.
Dear Dr. Fattahi,
It was a pleasure being in training with you in the warm atmosphere of your office.
I have been practicing Phlebology in the past and after visiting your wonderful clinic and well established practice I am confident to continue it. The one-on-one training session with your personal attention provided me with the most recent information in diagnosis and treatment of vein disorders. Sclerotherapy in your hands replaces almost all invasive treatments of veins with excellent cosmetic results. The practical secrets and hints you teach during the training were extremely helpful. I have seen how and why your patients are so happy and grateful with your excellent job.
Thank you for all your time, efforts, and for the excellent training and experience.

Hear From Our Patients
It is with great delight that I have the opportunity to share my experience, as a patient, in regards to our fabulous Dr. Fattahi. . .
I have been a patient of Dr. Fattahi since December 2007 for different vein related problems. I have experienced the ELVeS procedure, foam sclerotherapy,. . .
I had unsightly veins that ultimately caused me to be too self-conscious to wear skirts or shorts. I first paid several hundred dollars to a laser dermatologist to remove the veins...
Vein Specialty Medical Clinic
Spider veins are small, irregular, purplish or bluish unsightly vessels. Slightly larger and greenish veins, always feed spider veins. Achieving good results depends on treatment of spider and feeder veins.
Varicose veins always result from abnormal flow of blood in opposite the normal direction. In such cases, there is an incompetence of the one way barriers (valves) between the deep and superficial leg vein systems, leading to abnormal flow of blood from the larger deep veins into the superficial smaller veins and creation of bulging varicose veins that often have a zigzag pattern and cause a variety of symptoms.
